Eight of the best walks around Sidmouth
Sidmouth sits on the South West Coast Path, with big red cliffs to the west and a string of hills and valleys to the east. We’ve gathered the most popular walking routes around the town on OS Maps, the Ordnance Survey’s route app, so you can pick one to suit your legs and your day.
Short and sweet
The Sidmouth 2.5 mile and 3 mile circulars are perfect for a morning stretch. The 3 mile loop climbs the cliff path to around 176 m, so it’s short but not flat.
Half a day
River Sid and Soldier’s Hill packs plenty of variety into about four miles. The South West Coast Path Association’s Valley, Ridge and Jurassic Coast walk (5.5 miles) takes in The Byes, Mutter’s Moor and Peak Hill.
A full day out
Head east to Weston Mouth and The Donkey Sanctuary (7.5 miles), or west over Peak Hill to Ladram Bay and Otterton (10.6 miles).
