A Family Adventure at Crealy: A Big Day Out Near Exeter
Part of our days-out series for visitors based in Sidmouth who want to explore further afield.
If your children have been patient through the beach and the tearooms, Crealy is the day they will remember. This is a full day out for families at Clyst St Mary, near Exeter, and an easy journey from Sidmouth.
What is there
Crealy says it has more than 60 rides and attractions, including water rides and Devon’s biggest thrills, plus over 100 animals such as meerkats, alpacas, goats and reptiles. Younger children are well catered for, with Sooty Land, character shows and indoor soft play, and the park says it was voted Best Small Theme Park for Toddlers in the Theme Park Awards.
Practical tips
The park is minutes from Junction 30 of the M5, with free parking, and you can also reach it by bus from Exeter. Children under 92cm enter free. It opens at weekends and school holidays all year, and daily at peak times, so check the opening calendar before you set off. Booking online at least 24 hours ahead is recommended for the best prices. Bring a change of clothes if your children plan to ride the water attractions.
Make a short break of it
Crealy also offers lodges, glamping, caravans and camping on site, with park entry included. If you would rather stay by the sea, return to Sidmouth for dinner.
